Wedding Photos: Kelly and Nicholas at Dibble's Inn, 5/17/14

My second wedding of the 2014 wedding season took me back to the very first venue where I've ever disc jockeyed a wedding reception -- Dibble's Inn in Verona.  It was great to come back to Dibble's to help Kelly and Nicholas celebrate their ceremony and reception.  The weather was perfect and the crowd was awesome!

This wedding was another case where all the planning was handled through "virtual" meetings -- Kelly and Nicholas live on the west coast, so we took care of all the details through phone calls and email. It was nice to finally meet them face-to-face at the wedding! A great crowd, a wonderful venue, excellent food, and plenty of fun! I like the downstairs room at Dibble's because it's big, but it's not "oversized," so it has kind of an intimate feel to it.

From a technical standpoint, the downstairs room is also nice because there was no need to move the equipment between the ceremony and the reception. Even though I was on the "far inside" corner of the reception room, I was able to run a long cable to one speaker, positioned just inside one of the French doors leading outside. That, combined with a wireless lapel mic for the officiant, made it possible for the guests to hear music and speakers during the ceremony. Once the reception was over, I just moved that one speaker closer to the dance floor -- I was able to go immediately from reception music into the reception cocktail hour music without any stoppage.

As usual, here are the big songs of the night, as possible inspiration for future customers to consider:

  • Ceremony Processional: Instrumental / traditional music
  • Ceremony Bridal Entrance: Angelo Shaw / Here Comes the Bride (excellent saxophone version!)
  • Ceremony Recessional: Traditional wedding march
  • Wedding Party Intros: Chris Brown / Forever
  • First Dance: John Legend / All of Me
  • Bride / Father Dance: Rod Stewart / Have I Told You Lately
  • Groom / Mother Dance: The Carpenters / Close to You
  • Cake Cutting: Queen / You’re My Best Friend
  • Bouquet and Garter Tosses: AC/DC / You Shook Me All Night Long

Here are some photos from the evening -- they're also on my Facebook page, so if you want to "like" anything or tag yourself/friends/relatives, please do!

I want to wrap-up this post with a couple of shout-outs to the other vendors who I had the pleasure of working with at this wedding. Tanya Keller of "Marry Me" was the officiant. Because the venue had my DJ table positioned in a spot where it was difficult to see the procession, Tanya gave me cues through her wireless mic, allowing me to make sure I switched from the bridesmaid processional music to the bride's own entrance music at the right time. (My mixer has a mode where I can hear the mic through my own headphones, without feeding it out to the big speakers.) In addition to serving as an officiant, Tanya can also serve as your "day of" event planner, and like me, she has earned the Wedding Wire Couples Choice Award, based on the positive reviews from her customers.

Also a shout-out to Brittaney Alger of "That Special Day" Photography, who took a few moments from shooting to provide some updates on various details during the evening (it's always awesome when the vendors help each other out). For example, I knew Kelly and Nicholas currently live in California, but I didn't realize Kelly is originally from the Boston area. After Brittaney made mention of it, I made sure to play "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond near the end of the night, and everyone loved it. (If you've ever been to Fenway Park for a Red Sox game, you know that song is a very big deal!)
