Peter chose music that he knew our crowd would love, and he made sure to play the songs I requested! The dance floor was packed all night.

Wedding: Emily and Adam at DoubleTree East Syracuse, 8/1/15

Plenty of fun and lots of great photos to share from my latest wedding!  Emily and Adam got married and hosted their reception at the DoubleTree Hotel in East Syracuse, just off Carrier Circle.  The couple welcomed their first child earlier this year, and his presence made for quite the adorable wedding ceremony.  Afterwards, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour followed by dinner and a very active dance floor!

While I've been to the DoubleTree to attend various events before, this was actually my first time there as a DJ... and I hope it won't be my last!  The spaces are excellent, the staff is very professional and friendly, and the food was excellent.  And, from the DJ's point of view, setup ran very smoothly as everything's on the ground floor with no stairs or elevators to slow me down.

Originally, the ceremony and reception were to take place in the same ballroom, with guests moving to the adjacent lobby area for the cocktail hour -- allowing staff a chance to transition the room from ceremony seating to dinner seating.  But shortly before the wedding, plans changed.  A separate ballroom would be vacant, so the DoubleTree graciously offered it to Emily and Adam for the ceremony.

Upon arrival, I set-up my primary sound system and dance floor lights in the Grand Ballroom, while my secondary sound system was set-up in the Harbour Ballroom for the ceremony.  The DJ table in the Grand Ballroom was right behind a doorway leading out to the cocktail hour area, so I was able to run a cable to a speaker in that hallway, allowing me to provide music for the cocktail hour immediately after the ceremony ended.  This arrangement also allowed for a seamless transition into the rest of the evening as guests entered the ballroom.

Now for the key songs Emily and Adam selected for the festivities:

  • Ceremony Processional: Pachelbel / Canon in D
  • Ceremony Bridal Entrance: Piano Guys / A Thousand Years
  • Ceremony Recessional: U2 / Beautiful Day
  • Wedding Party Intros: Pitbull / Give Me Everything
  • Bride and Groom Entrance: Chris Brown / Forever
  • First Dance: Josh Krajcik / No Better Lovers
  • Bride / Father Dance: Heartland / I Loved Her First
  • Groom / Mother Dance: T. Carter Music / A Mother’s Song
  • Cake Cutting: Adam Sandler / Grow Old With You, followed by Average White Band / Cut the Cake
  • Bouquet Toss: Beyonce / Single Ladies
  • Last Dance of the Night for Everyone: Ed Sheeran / Thinking Out Loud

And now, for the photos!  Among them, you can see the low-key setup for the ceremony (sound system tucked away behind the back row of seats, speaker at the front, but well off to the side).  You'll also catch Emily and Adam's son preparing to make his appearance in the ceremony... and of course, lots of shots of guests packing the dance floor!  As always, these photos are also on my Facebook page, so if you were there, click the blue button above or before the album to look through them there, and tag yourself or anyone else you know!

I'm very thankful to Emily for posting this wonderful, 5-star review on my WeddingWire page:

Peter did a great job with both our ceremony and reception music. We had a change of plans in our ceremony set up, causing him to have to set up in two different areas. Peter was completely fine with our changes, and he even had music playing for our guests as they arrived at cocktail hour, so there were no awkward gaps of silence throughout the night. Peter was also very responsive and helpful when planning for our big day. He had wonderful suggestions and advice, as we had NO CLUE what we were doing in the planning process. Thank you for a great night! Everyone had fun and was on the dance floor, just as we wished!

Thanks again to Emily and Adam for selecting me as your DJ!  Your wedding day is going to be one of the most memorable days of your life, so I am honored that you trusted my advice in helping to plan various aspects of the ceremony and reception.  Of course, a lot of the credit also goes back to you two, and everyone else involved -- family, friends and other vendors -- who each did their own part.

Thanks also to the guests, who packed the dance floor and added several great requests to the mix as the night rolled on.  Everyone from the bride and groom, to the guests and the venue staff were a pleasure to work with.  I wish Emily, Adam and their family all the best together.  While we handled most of the planning via email and our only "live" conversation prior to the wedding day was a Skype video call, I could tell they're a wonderful couple and they're surrounded by an incredible family and great friends!

Peter was an absolute pleasure to work with! We want to relive this whole weekend again! Loved every minute! Do yourself a favor and book Peter as your DJ!
