Peter was extremely professional, so easy to work with. He kept people on the dance floor right up until the last song. Everyone had SO much fun, especially us!

Wedding: Molly and Frank at The Cannery, Vernon, 12/28/19

Molly & Cic's wedding at The Cannery, Vernon, NY - photo by Peter Naughton peterthedj.com - December 2019

My final wedding of 2019 brought me to a venue that's not just "new to me" but new to many -- The Cannery in Vernon. Molly and Frank put together a very well-appointed ceremony and reception which fit nicely into the weekend between Christmas and New Year's.

Although The Cannery has been operating as a wedding venue for only a few years, it was orignally an actual canning company many years ago. The owners did an excellent job transforming the building into a wedding venue, while preserving a few subtle nods to the building's history.

Molly and Frank (who goes by the nickname Cic - pronounced "cheech") added plenty of their own unique touches to the venue. Getting married just three days after Christmas, the entire wall of the ballroom behind the head table was lined with full-size Christmas trees, strung with white lights. Guest table centerpieces featured pine branches. And guests learned of their seating assignments by finding their names on the "ornaments" of a Christmas tree-themed sign.

Molly and Cic's Key Song Choices

Ceremony

  • Processional: Piano Guys / A Thousand Years (instrumental cover of Christina Perri)
  • Grand Entrance: Brooklyn Duo / Canon in D (Cello & Piano)
  • Recessional: Avett Brothers / Love Like the Movies

Reception

  • Wedding party intros: Justin Timberlake / Can’t Stop the Feeling
  • First Dance: Sunny Sweeney / Grow Old With Me
  • Father / Bride Dance: Randy Newman / You’ve Got a Friend in Me
  • Cake Cutting: Frank Sinatra / L.O.V.E.
  • Anniversary "Contest" Dance: Dean Martin / You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You
  • Last Dance of the Night: Maroon 5 / Memories

For this wedding, I used two sound systems. One in the chapel space to provide mics and music for the ceremony, and my main rig with dance floor lighting was in the main ballroom to cover the rest of the evening. We had a great dance floor crowd, check out the photos below!

As I've said many times on this blog, I hope you liked my photos, but I'm just the DJ -- so be sure to also check out the work of Molly and Cic's official wedding photographer, Rebecca Sheets Photography; as of this writing, she's posted one sneak peek on Facebook so far... can't wait to see more on her blog soon!

Thanks again to Molly and Cic for choosing me as your wedding DJ! It was great to meet you and it was both an honor and a pleasure to help you celebrate this momentous occasion. I wish you both all the best for many years of love and happiness together!

And for anyone who may have discovered this blog post because you're considering The Cannery for your own wedding -- you may have heard that The Cannery recently bought out another local DJ service and they now offer DJ services within their venue packages. To clarify, I am not that in-house DJ service. But to the best of my knowledge -- at least for now -- The Cannery is not requiring couples to use their DJs, so if you like what you see here and within my client reviews dating back to 2010, I hope you'll say hello!

We got so many compliments on the music for our reception - Peter has a talent for reading a crowd, and our dance floor was never empty! We would absolutely recommend Peter to anyone looking for a DJ.
