One of the biggest events at F-M High School is the annual Dance Marathon to raise money for Camp Good Days and Special Times. As a parent of two (and soon to be three) kids in the F-M school district, it was an honor to be asked and a pleasure to donate my time to spin the tunes for the 2022 event! The thrill was even bigger when the final dollar total was announced...
Camp Good Days strives to improve the quality of life for families affected by cancer or sickle cell anemia through residential camping programs and year-round recreational and support activities. Organizers say it costs about $800 to send a child to the camp, and the F-M High School Student Council strives to raise at least $100,000 each year by engaging in various fundraising activities that culminate with the Dance Marathon.
The 2022 Dance Marathon would be the first to take place in-person since 2019, after two years of "going virtual" due to the pandemic. And as you can see, the kids had a blast! Here are a few shots of my setup and the fun.
And when it was time to announce the final fundraising total -- the energy was off the charts! When the big check was unveiled, revealing the kids had raised $116,072... and I don't think I've ever heard a group cheer so loud!!
Congratulations again to the F-M Dance Marathon, the student MCs who helped put it all together, and to their adviser, Guidance Counselor Kelly Campioleta, and all the other faculty, staff and volunteers who came together to make the 2022 F-M Dance Marathon a huge success!
