My second event of the 2024 season wasn’t a wedding, but rather a 50th wedding anniversary celebration! It was extra special because Marie and Patrick got married exactly 50 years ago, on Saturday, May 11, 1974 — and had their reception at the exact same venue, Twin Ponds Golf and Country Club in New York Mills, just outside of Utica.

One of the biggest events at F-M High School is the annual Dance Marathon to raise money for Camp Good Days and Special Times. As a parent of two (and soon to be three) kids in the F-M school district, it was an honor to be asked and a pleasure to donate my time to spin the tunes for the 2022 event! The thrill was even bigger when the final dollar total was announced…

Last year, I was a participant. This year, I was proud to DJ the second annual Empire Cup race at Toggenburg Mountain Winter Sports Center in Fabius. It’s not your typical ski race — read on to find out what makes this one unique!

A few posts ago, I mentioned how I’ve never been asked to DJ a wedding anniversary party until this year.  Well, not only have I been asked — I was asked twice!  Richard and Christine’s wedding anniversary party took place at the Logan Ridge Estates in Hector, overlooking beautiful Seneca Lake. Being in my 8th year as a wedding DJ, “first times” don’t happen for me as often as they used to, but Kathy and Duncan’s 25th anniversary presented three — including one nobody was expecting!  It was my first time performing a wedding anniversary party, my first booking at Drumlins, and for the third “first,” you’ll have to read onward! What’s old is new again.  Finally, that saying rings true for the former Hotel Syracuse.  Now the Marriott Syracuse Downtown, it has new life after $70 million in renovations.  This past weekend, more than a thousand attended “Forever Hotel Syracuse: A Historic Gala.”  The fundraiser for the Onondaga Historical Association provided a first look at the fruits of the extensive renovations.  Thanks to some fortunate luck, I had the chance to accompany my wife to the event, camera in hand. When you see all the headlines about cutbacks and closings, it’s a breath of fresh air when you hear about a company that’s doing well and sharing its success with its employees.  The Teal’s Express trucking company hosted a wonderful holiday party for its employees earlier this month.  Bringing in employees from multiple locations across upstate New York, the party managed to fill the entire Garden Grille Restaurant space inside the Radisson Hotel Utica Centre. A wedding celebration after the actual wedding day: Jennifer and Dan chose to have a small, intimate wedding on the beach in North Carolina in May.  To celebrate with extended family and friends “back home” in Syracuse, the couple held an informal reception at Barbagallo’s Restaurant in East Syracuse in June. For the second year in a row, I was thrilled to serve as DJ for Walk MS Syracuse, an annual fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Upstate New York Chapter.  Once again, we had wonderful weather, thousands of people supporting a great cause, and some upbeat tunes to keep everyone moving. It was both an honor and a pleasure to be asked if I could provide the music and announcements for the Syracuse 2012 Walk MS, to benefit the Upstate New York Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  The beautiful weather brought thousands to Long Branch Park in Liverpool, and you’ll see in the photos… a popular Syracuse TV personality even made an appearance!
