A wedding celebration after the actual wedding day: Jennifer and Dan chose to have a small, intimate wedding on the beach in North Carolina in May. To celebrate with extended family and friends "back home" in Syracuse, the couple held an informal reception at Barbagallo's Restaurant in East Syracuse in June.
From a disc jockey's point of view, the set-up at Barbagallo's is excellent. I was able to park right outside the back door to the room, and the DJ table was immediately inside that door. The minutes saved on avoiding long walks, stairs or other obstacles allowed me to get everything set-up so quickly, I was able to snap and share some photos from the equipment set-up process... usually there isn't enough time.
You'll see those photos in the album below, along with many shots from the party itself. Because this wasn't a "reception," there were no special events like a first dance or a bouquet toss -- but nobody seemed to mind, as skipping these events allowed the dance floor momentum to run non-stop through the end of the night.

- Pre-event setup, getting all the bags and cases loaded-in.
- Mixing console and lighting truss in place.
- Nearly all done!
- Gaffers tape is always used when cables have to run across doorways, like this emergency exit. Gaffer's tape is especially made for this purpose, and can be removed from the floor without leaving the messy goo duct tape is known for.
In addition to the convenient set-up, the actual banquet room was very spacious, the dance floor also offered plenty of room, and everyone really seemed to have a great time. Because Jen and Dan live outside of CNY, they were only able to meet with me one time, but after that one meeting, we successfully handled the rest of the planning process via email.
