What a busy wedding season! Although I usually try to give myself one weekend off per month, I somehow managed to let myself book all four weekends in August... so that explains why I'm a little behind on my blogging. In any event, the first weekend in August brought me back to a familiar venue, MKJ Farm in Deansboro. Located about 25 minutes south of Utica, just off route 12B, MKJ Farm provided a perfect setting for Carly and Mike's wedding, especially considering they just started their own farm not too long ago.
I was especially happy to be selected to DJ this wedding because I've known Mike since we were both in the same elementary school and on the same Little League baseball team near Rome, more than 25 years ago (wow, I feel old saying that!). It was great to catch up with Mike and to meet Carly during our planning conversations, and it was nice to see Mike's family for the first time in quite awhile.
Although Carly and Mike had their ceremony at the pond at the top of the hill overlooking the barn, I didn't have to worry about that part of the day's festivities, as the newlyweds hired The Rusty Doves to perform their wedding music live, along with music for the dinner hour. Here are the songs Carly and Mike selected for the key moments for the rest of the reception:
- First Dance: Genesis / Follow You, Follow Me
- Groom / Mother Dance: Fleetwood Mac / Landslide
- Bride / Father Dance: Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole / Over the Rainbow
- Cake Cutting: Jason Mraz & Colbie Calliat / Lucky
- Last Dance of the Night for Everyone: James Ingram & Linda Ronstadt / Somewhere Out There
And now, some photos from the day!

Thanks again to Carly and Mike for selecting me as your wedding DJ! Again, it was an honor and a pleasure to help you celebrate your big day, and I wish you all the best for many years of happiness together!
