Springside Farm in Pompey was the perfect venue for Sherri and Brian's intimate wedding reception. You might know this farm along Route 91 for family fun in the fall and Christmas trees in the winter. But during the summer, the barn serves as a spacious rustic venue surrounded by fields of green.
I didn't realize it until afterward, but Sherri and Brian's wedding was something of a milestone for me! Not counting private residences, Springside Farm is the 75th venue where I've provided wedding DJ services!
The venue can accommodate up to 350 people for weddings. However, if you're considering this venue, here's something to know: the owner explained to me, this is a "DIY venue." Clients are responsible for setting-up and tearing-down their own decor. If you're "not a DIY person," you'll probably need to hire a third-party vendor to handle things like decor and linens. You'll also need to hire a catering service who can also handle bartending.
Venue owner Paulie Drexler said she provides a list of vendors as a courtesy. Paulie says her list includes any vendor who was "not a jerk" when they've worked at Springside Farm before. In fact, she calls it "The Not-a-Jerk List." I like the idea -- way better than venues that only recommend vendors who paid to appear on their lists!
