Melissa and Jack’s wedding reception wasn’t my first visit to Meier’s Creek Brewing in Cazenovia personally, but it was my first visit as a wedding DJ. Admittedly, I was a bit nervous about the weather at first, but everything turned out quite beautifully and I hope to DJ more weddings here in the future!
To accommodate weddings and other private events while keeping its main restaurant and bar business open to the public, Meier’s Creek Brewing Company offers its cellar and outdoor lower terrace. The venue’s website says you can host up to 125 guests.
Because Melissa and Jack wanted to make sure guests could enjoy cocktail hour and dancing outside on the lower terrace, they arranged to have a large party tent installed over the terrace, protecting it from rain. Although I wasn’t planning to use my own tent, I brought it along anyway “just in case,” and that turned out to be a good call. Soon after arriving, the venue manager said the Melissa’s mother was hoping I could set up in an area just outside of the main tent, to save more room for the dance floor. I was able to oblige by setting up my own tent adjacent to the main party tent, as you’ll see in the photos.
After the wedding party intros, first dance and toasts, we had everyone head inside for dinner and cake cutting… then back outside for the bouquet toss, parent dances, and then we opened up the dance floor for the rest of the night.
Regarding my nervousness — cloudy skies when I arrived had me worried about potential rain, but we didn’t see a single drop the entire time!

Peter was instrumental in helping us plan out our wedding reception timeline, and thinking through the best flow for our special day.
