If you are trying to decide which DJ to hire for your wedding, you need to look no further. Peter was amazing and made the process so smooth and easy. The dance floor was bumping the whole night!

Wedding: Anessa and Jason at the Beacon Hotel, Oswego, 10/17/15

As a former TV news producer, I'm used to adjusting on-the-fly to unexpected changes... but it was quite a shock when bride-to-be Anessa called me a few weeks before her wedding to inform me that Jason had been in a bad accident.  I felt horrible for them, as they weren't yet sure exactly how this would impact their wedding day plans.  Thankfully, Jason was able to get back on his feet again in time to keep everything on October 17th, albeit with some changes including moving the location by about 95 miles.

The original plans called for the ceremony and reception to take place at a rural bed and breakfast south of Ithaca, but it was decided to keep things closer to home, which, for this bride and groom, is Oswego.  The couple booked facilities at The Beacon Hotel on the city's west side.  The ceremony was held in the banquet room.  Guests moved into the adjacent lounge for cocktail hour, allowing the banquet room to be reset for dinner.  Once the meal was over, guests moved back into the lounge for the reception.  A live harpist provided music for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and I took over for dinner and dancing.

Considering Jason had a broken back among his injuries, I was very happy to see him on his feet, able to fully participate in the festivities from the ceremony to the first dance and even the garter toss.  At one point, I commented to one of the photographers -- if I hadn't known he was in an accident, I'm not sure I would have guessed on my own.  I was really glad that he and Anessa were still able to have their wedding and reception on the date they originally wanted all along.

Here were some of the key songs from my portion of the evening:

  • Wedding Party Intros: Michael Franti and Spearhead / Say Hey (I Love You)
  • First Dance: John Butler Trio / Fool for You
  • Groom / Mother Dance: Rascal Flatts / My Wish
  • Bride / Father-in-Law Dance: Ben E. King / Stand By Me
  • Cake Cutting: Adam Sandler / Grow Old With You
  • Bouquet Toss: Motley Crue / Girls, Girls, Girls
  • Garter Toss: Donna Summer / Love to Love You, Baby
  • Last Dance of the Night for Everyone: Guns n Roses / Patience
  • Last Dance of the Night for Bride and Groom: Chris Isaak / Wicked Game

Because the harpist covered the ceremony, I was setting-up during that time -- so my photos for this wedding pick up with the cocktail hour, wedding party introductions, special dances, dinner and then the reception.

Here's the 5-star review Jason posted on WeddingWire:

DJ Peter Naughton was excellent right from the start. He was easy to get communicate with, speedy in his replies and when we had to change the wedding venue last minute due to an accident, he was very understanding and easy going about it. He played a great choice of music and everyone enjoyed the night dancing! I definitely recommend him as your wedding DJ.

Thanks again, Anessa and Jason, for selecting me as your wedding DJ!  Hats off to Jason for being able to power through the day, and to all the guests who were able to adjust their own plans to follow the wedding after it was moved.  It was an honor to have been trusted with my role in your wedding day and I wish you both all the best for health and happiness together!
