IT'S SO GREAT TO BE BACK! Back to weddings, weddings with dance floors, back to Skaneateles, back to The Sherwood Inn! Can you tell I'm happy?? After just one wedding during the insanely crazy 2020, it was soooo nice to finally kick off my 2021 wedding season. Check out the photos and song choices in this post!
To be honest, I was extremely nervous coming into this wedding. I was expecting Murphy's Law to come into play at some point. Because it had been so long since my last wedding, I just couldn't shake "that nagging feeling" that I'd left something home, some piece of equipment would fail, or I'd mess up one way or another. Even after testing things beforehand, and double- and triple-checking the details.
Thankfully... everything went well! (Maybe it's because I was so overly cautious?) I snagged a great curbside parking spot for loading-in my equipment, the crowd was wonderful, the venue staff was fantastic and we didn't have any problems with microphones, lights, music or anything else!
New for 2021, I'm now including uplighting with all Wedding DJ bookings! Here are some shots of the uplighting in the Sherwood's dining areas before guests arrived, along with some other shots of the decor.
Jenna and David's Key Song Choices
- Wedding party intros: Coldplay / Sky Full of Stars
- First Dance: Michael Bublé / Can’t Help Falling in Love
- Father / Bride Dance: Beatles / In My Life
- Groom / Mother Dance: Ben E. King / Stand By Me
- Cake Cutting: Natalie Cole / This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)
- Anniversary Contest Dance: Nat King Cole / L-O-V-E
- Last Dance of the Night (Everyone): Chainsmokers ft. Coldplay / Something Just Like This
- Last Dance of the Night (Newlyweds only): Maroon 5 / Memories
Once the dance floor got going, it was so nice to be able to confirm: WEDDINGS. ARE. BACK! David wasted no time taking Jenna off her feet, twirling her around during the first dance, earning applause from the crowd. We'd be treated to an encore during the last dance of the night. A wide variety of requests, a line dance or two, and the dance floor crowd had a great time.
After a few weddings at the Sherwood Inn, I think it's safe to say the crowd is having a good time if a guest eventually makes their way up onto the huge, stage-like bay window along the dance floor. And it's safe to say they're having a great time if the newlyweds are the ones getting up there in front of everyone! You'll see in the photos below.

By the end of the night, I couldn't have been happier with how things turned out!
Wishing all the best to Jenna and David for many years of love, health and happiness together! It was an honor and a pleasure to help you celebrate your big day.
Special thanks to Jenna's sister Rachel, who was helping with the wedding planning, found me online and pointed Jenna in my direction! Thanks also to the crew at The Sherwood Inn in Skaneateles, always a pleasure to DJ at this wonderful venue.
