Carly and Dan's wedding gave me the chance to experience another "new to me" venue in the Central New York countryside: Old Hickory Farm in Weedsport. Check out the photos of the venue and the fun times, along with song picks and more in today's blog post!
Old Hickory Farm features a large barn on the top of a hill, surrounded by fields. Carly and Dan got married in one of those fields, with a fountained pond in the background. After the ceremony, guests walk up to the barn for cocktail hour and the rest of the reception.
For those interested in the technical side of things, I started set-up with one sound system inside the barn, with dance floor lighting and uplighting. After that was all set, I moved down to the ceremony site to set up a second sound system with my wireless speakers. I brought along my canopy pop-up tent to protect the gear from the sun, as it was a clear day and quite warm for mid-September.
As soon as the ceremony was over, while the recessional song was still playing, I was able to run up to the barn and get the cocktail hour music kicked-off before guests started trickling in. Then, back down the hill to pack-up all the ceremony gear... and back to the barn with ample time to spare before wedding party introductions and the first dance.

Old Hickory Farm Wedding DJ Photo Highlights
Another unforgettable celebration, with a great crowd filling the dance floor! Although the reception "officially" went until 10pm, a shuttle bus bringing guests back to hotels in Auburn was scheduled to leave at 9:50. So we backtimed things accordingly to have a last dance for "everyone" before it was time to send everyone outside to line up for a "sparkler exit" photo with Taryn Sherwood Photography.
Once that was done and guests had boarded the bus or headed for the parking lots, Carly and Dan headed back inside to enjoy an intimate moment -- a final dance of the night with the entire barn to just themselves.

As I've said many times on this blog, I'm just the DJ, not a professional photographer -- as always, the best shots come from the professional photographer at each wedding. Check out these samples from Taryn Sherwood Photography:
