Although the weather didn't cooperate with Faith and Nick's plans to get married outside, it was still a great celebration at Camp Brockway, part of Pratts Falls County Park just outside of Manlius. Check out song picks, photos and Faith's 5-star review in today's blog post!
Before I get into this, I have to applaud Faith and Nick for booking me as early as they did! For whatever the reason, it seems that September 7, 2024 turned out to be a very popular wedding date in Central New York. I had to respectfully decline more couples than I've ever had for any other date, because Faith and Nick beat them all to the punch!
The decision to move the ceremony indoors didn't pose any major complications. At some venues, doing the ceremony indoors might require staff to "flip" the room for dinner, but not at Camp Brockway. All the tables took up one half of the room, and the dance floor was on the other half. Guests simply sat in the same seats where they'd be eating, and the ceremony took place in the space that would later become the dance floor.
And I loved how the rafters allowed me a chance to place two of my uplighting units horizontally, facing the neon name display they had on the wall over the fireplace. You can see that in one of the photos below.

Although the weather forced the ceremony indoors, the bar was set-up outside, under a covered breezeway between the main building and a smaller building. I placed a wireless speaker out there so guests could hear the music during cocktail hour -- and most importantly, the announcements when it was time to head back inside for introductions and dinner.
After dinner, we had a little less than two hours left for dancing. In addition to their "must play" requests and their "nice to have" list, Faith and Nick had one other request: no slow songs! No complaints here... while a slow song or two are usually well-received at most weddings, it was nice to deviate from "the usual" and do things a little differently.
