This is the first of two weddings I'm playing at Borio's Lakeside in Cicero this month alone. What a beautiful venue! Right on the shore of Oneida Lake... and a wonderful day. Originally, the forecast had called for a chance of rain, but we lucked out with sunny skies and comfortable temperatures for an outdoor ceremony, followed by an indoor reception.
Now that winter is (hopefully) finished, my calendar is pretty busy over the next several weeks! Following the success of an open house in December, I was honored to be asked back to the Children's Consortium in Syracuse to DJ their Family Fun Fair. Although it was chilly for late April, it was sunny and dry, and we had plenty of fun!
A couple years ago, I did a video voiceover for the Children's Consortium of Syracuse, and they asked me back to DJ their holiday open house. It was a little over two hours of Christmas tunes, designed to appeal to both the kids and the parents in attendance.
Another wonderful wedding to cap off the "unofficial" end to summer 2011. Zach and Alyssa got married over Labor Day weekend, and their reception at Orchard Vali Golf Club in LaFayette was a blast. Their guests love to dance -- keeping the floor filled right up to the end at 11:30pm. The crowd was so enthusiastic, we actually went a few minutes past with an extra encore song.
One of the "perks" of being a DJ is getting to see all sorts of new places around the area. For my latest DJ booking, I took a scenic drive from Syracuse up to Sodus Point, in Wayne County, specifically, to the Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club.
When you've got one of the hottest summers in recent memory, the only way to improve on a day at the beach... is to have a wedding there! Well, OK, it wasn't planned in that exact order, but everyone still had a blast celebrating Rose and Ken's wedding at Lake Delta State Park near Rome on July 23.
Even though a DJ's job might look easy, that smooth performance requires a certain amount of advance preparation. My rates include two face-to-face planning meetings where we'll meet to discuss the details of your event. That way, when your wedding day arrives, I can do my part to help make sure everything happens just as you've envisioned.
Had a great time helping Dawn and Joseph celebrate their wedding at The Otesaga Resort in Cooperstown! I haven't been to Cooperstown since 1996... while I remember driving past The Otesaga then, I've never actually been inside. Beautiful location, right on the lake. This reception was unique in that we had two different set-ups: one for the cocktail hour outside on the veranda, then we had to move indoors for the reception.
Most wedding-related vendors need to be booked 6-12 months in advance. It's impossible to know exactly what kind of weather your wedding day will bring. With so many people involved, you can't just cancel or postpone due to rain. But with some planning, you can prevent bad weather from ruining your big day.
