Though I’ve played weddings in Auburn a few times before, this was my first visit to the Hilton Garden Inn. Jessica and Richard picked an excellent location for their reception! I was impressed with this relatively-new (just a few years old) venue, especially for the spacious ballroom and the adjacent spaces which also played a role in the evening’s festivities. The first of my trips to the Ithaca area this wedding season took me just north of the city, to the Lake Watch Inn. Nestled high atop the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake, this historic facility provided a wonderful backdrop for Kelsey and Keyan’s ceremony and reception. Even though most of the day was planned to take place inside “just in case,” the weather proved to be clear, sunny and quite warm, so many guests spent a good chunk of the day on the porch outside. Erin and Steven couldn’t have asked for a better day to host their nuptuals in the beautiful Village of Skaneateles. It was the first weekend where we had really nice, warm weather in Central New York, so Skaneateles was abuzz with people strolling through the various shops and enjoying the sights along the lakeshore. Erin and Steven’s wedding brought me back to the Sherwood Inn for my second time — though there was a “first” at this event. (more…)
The 2015 wedding season is now officially underway… and I don’t think I could have asked for a better way to get started! Loreley and Ben hosted their wedding ceremony and reception at the beautiful, historic Oneida Community Mansion House in Oneida. It was not just the first wedding of the 2015 season, but the first where I used two separate sound systems together — thanks to the addition of a brand new sound system over the winter. (more…)
For my final wedding of the 2014 season, it was nice to return to a familiar venue: Emerson Park in Auburn! That’s where Hollie and Brendan chose to celebrate their wedding day with several dozen of their closest relatives and friends. And as you’ll see in this blog post, everyone had fun dancing the night away, right up to the very last song of the night. (more…)
My goal is to be completely caught-up on my 2014 event blogging by Christmas… still not sure if I’ll make it, but I’m getting really close! Maria and Ben hail from the Utica area, but selected the beautiful Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse as the site for their wedding reception. Although a planned outdoor cocktail hour had to be held indoors due to the weather, most guests probably didn’t even realize there was a change. As expected of any professional venue, the Bellevue had a solid backup plan in place (of which I was also aware) and the entire evening went off without a hitch! (more…)
We’re just a few days away from Christmas, so it’s only appropriate that I am finally blogging about Frances and Adam’s wedding from October. Why is that appropriate? Well, let’s just say it’s the first time I’ve ever done an October wedding — or a wedding, any month for that matter — where a famous, jolly man in a red suit made an appearance to surprise all the guests! I always love adding new places to the list of venues where I’ve performed — so I really enjoyed spinning tunes and acting as emcee for Megan and Steve’s wedding reception at The Farmers’ Museum in Cooperstown. A museum at a wedding? Yeah, it’s true! Sure, not every museum out there is ideal for a wedding, but the Farmers’ Museum offers a wonderful setting — plenty of space indoors and out. It was with much pleasure that I had the honor of providing music and emcee duties at the wedding of Becca and Mike. I first met Mike shortly after I met the woman who would become my own wife, back in 2009. He’s a great guy and my wife and I were very happy for him when he met Becca. From the time we were all first introduced, it was apparent that Mike and Becca had something special and we just knew there would eventually be some wedding bells. Fast-forward to September 13, 2014… at the Frog Pond Bed and Breakfast in Skaneateles. (more…)
For most Central New Yorkers, any mention of “Old Forge” immediately brings up thoughts of the popular water park that’s been up there for many years. But there’s a lot more to Old Forge — like Nick’s Lake, a few miles “off the beaten path,” offering a serene and scenic venue for Trisha and Joshua’s ceremony and reception. (more…)
