Peter was very professional and well organized. I was very impressed with his communication and the planning form he had. No detail was missed.

Wedding: Michelle and John at Twin Ponds New Hartford, 9/24/16

As I continue to catch-up on my 2016 wedding season blogging, I can't believe it's already been a whole month since Michelle and John's wedding reception!  They had a beautiful fall day to celebrate at Twin Ponds Golf and Country Club in New York Mills, just outside of Utica.  For this reception, I provided sound in two separate areas, along with dance floor lighting and uplighting.  Keep reading this blog post for photos, song ideas and more!

Twin Ponds has been hosting weddings for more than 70 years, and the building has two spaces available.  You can use one or both, and separate entrances are available for each.  For my previous wedding here, a little over three years ago, only the Terrace Room was used, with its unique round bar and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the golf course.  But this time around, it was almost like an entirely new venue -- as Michelle and John only used the Terrace Room for their cocktail hour, then had guests move into the larger Ballroom for dinner, toasts and dancing.

To provide a seamless transition from cocktail hour to dinner hour, two different sound systems were used -- one in each room.  My main system, complete with dance floor lighting, was set-up in the Ballroom, while my secondary system was set-up in the Terrace.  In addition, Michelle and John opted to add uplighting in the ballroom.  A bright-yellow (almost white) hue was selected to accent the head table and the perimeter of the ballroom.

Playing a major role in making the spaces look pretty was Bella's Event Planning.  Owner Danielle and her crew take care of everything from table linens and chair covers to centerpieces and various decorating accents that you might not think of (or want to be worried with planning) on your own.

Before I get into the photos, check out the songs Michelle and John selected for the key moments of their reception.  Particularly, check out the groom/mother dance selection.  No sappy, slow dance for John and his mother!  I'm not sure if she was in on it beforehand or not, but the smile on her face beamed of approval, and the crowd reaction was great, too.  I love moments like that.

  • Wedding Party Intros: Justin Timberlake / Can't Stop the Feeling
  • First Dance: Safety Suit / Never Stop (Wedding Version)
  • Bride / Father Dance: T Carter Music / Daddy's Little Angel
  • Groom / Mother Dance: Guns N Roses / Sweet Child O' Mine
  • Cake Cutting: Maroon 5 / Sugar
  • Bouquet Toss: Kelis / Milkshake
  • Garter Toss: Marvin Gaye / Let's Get it On
  • Last Dance of the Night for Everyone: Dave Matthews Band / Crush, followed by Ed Sheeran / Thinking Out Loud

Peter is very professional during the entire planning process all the way through the event. He did an amazing job getting people on the dance floor and staying on the dance floor the entire night - overall, he was amazing to work with!
