Danielle and Brandon couldn't have asked for a better day for an outdoor wedding ceremony! Clear skies and comfortable temperatures made for a great day at Timber Banks Golf Course in Baldwinsville. For the ceremony, everyone moved inside to the "Wedding and Event Center." As always, I've got photos, song selections and some "DJ perspective" on the event.
Having never been to the venue before, there was a fair amount of discussion about the logistics for the day. Although I felt very prepared, I was surprised to find Timber Banks is more than just a golf course and clubhouse. The complex includes new homes and townhouses, a small marina along the Seneca River and more.
Wedding receptions take place in a dedicated event center, separate from the main clubhouse building. The structure looks like a massive party tent at first glance. Once you go inside, you find it's more sophisticated than the "weekend rental" type of tent. This one has full doors, cement floors and power outlets throughout. The tent also features full-size chandeliers. There's also a small building inside the tent, which houses permanent restrooms and some foodservice space.
Set-up started with one sound system and dance floor lighting inside the tent. Then, off to the ceremony area along the golf course's 16th fairway. A permanent canopy structure provided shelter for a second sound system. And there's a lovely gazebo for the ceremony itself, with the Seneca River serving as a picturesque backdrop.
It's a bit of a walk from the parking area to the ceremony site, and a longer walk back through the parking lot to the reception tent. But Timber Banks staff were ready with several golf carts to shuttle elderly relatives or other guests who might have difficulty making the walk. As is often the case for my "two-location" weddings, as soon as the ceremony was over, I allowed post-ceremony music to roll on its own as I made my way back to the reception tent, to get cocktail music going there. Then, I headed back to the ceremony site to pack-up that equipment.

After the reception ended, I made announcements asking all the guests to head outside. Not to leave the venue immediately, but to line-up with sparklers for the final photos of the night! Danielle and Brandon made plans with H. Moran Photography for a "sparkler send-off." Haven't seen any of those photos yet, but here's a handful Holly has posted on her Facebook:
Thanks again to Danielle and Brandon for choosing me as your DJ!
