Elizabeth and Sean at Windridge Estate, Cazenovia, 7/12/25

Elizabeth and Sean’s wedding was my second at the beautifully-manicured Windridge Estate, located just east of the Village of Cazenovia. The hilltop venue offers an amazing outdoor ceremony location with miles-long views that never fail to amaze. And we had a great party, too! Details in this blog post.

Admittedly, setup is a little more challenging at Windridge Estate because the ceremony site is nearly 100 yards away from the closest point I’m allowed with my vehicle, and it’s all stone or grass, so I can’t use my utility cart to move gear back and forth. However — the Windridge staff graciously allows me to load equipment onto one of their utility vehicles, which they can drive across the lawn to the ceremony site.

The venue also offers a nice gazebo just to the side of the ceremony area, which serves as a perfect “base of operations” for ceremony sound. It’s well out of view for any of the ceremony photos, but close enough to be able to see/hear everything, and there’s even a convenient power outlet right there! You’ll see what I mean in this first set of photos.

After the ceremony, everyone walks up to the venue’s Belvedere Pavilion for cocktail hour. That’s followed by the reception in the “Large White Barn,” which (if you’ll recall from my previous visit) used to be the “Red Barn.”

Last time I was here, providing sound in all 3 locations with 2 systems required me to quickly move the ceremony sound system up to the barn during cocktail hour.

Thanks to my investments in more equipment, I was able to serve both the Belevdere (cocktail hour) and the barn from a single sound system, so even though I still needed to remove all the gear from the ceremony site, I didn’t need to “race the clock.”

Elizabeth & Sean’s Key Song Choices

Ceremony

  • Processional: Brooklyn Duo / Can’t Help Falling in Love
  • Grand Entrance: Brooklyn Duo / I Get to Love You
  • Recessional: Natalie Cole / This Will Be

Reception

  • First Dance: Solomon / Bloom (Cover)
  • Father / Bride Dance: Heartland / I Loved Her First
  • Groom / Mother Dance: Van Morrison / Days Like This
  • Last Dance of the Night: Killers / Mr. Brightside

Did you notice anything missing up there? If so, sharp eye! Elizabeth and Sean opted to skip the traditional wedding party introductions. Instead, they just had me make an announcement asking everyone to gather on the Blue Stone Patio (between the pavilion and the barn), for their first dance and the parent dances.

After that, we had everyone take their seats for dinner. Due to an unexpected absence amongst the catering staff, I was asked at the last minute to make table announcements for the buffet. No problem — handling on-the-spot changes makes me nostalgic for my previous career in TV news!
