After the pandemic forced Kiarra and Chris to postpone their wedding reception for 14 months -- and find a new venue in the process -- family and friends finally had the chance to celebrate at Camp Brockway, a rustic venue tucked away in its own little section of Pratt's Falls County Park, just a few miles south of Manlius.
The camp's dining room has a listed capacity of 180 (though it's not clear whether that accounts for dance floor space), along with plenty of outdoor seating on the adjoining deck and porch areas. You also have the freedom to bring in your own caterer.
Although Kiarra and Chris did not hold their ceremony here, anyone reading this blog for potential venue ideas may be pleased to know there is plenty of room for an outdoor ceremony on the field next to the building, as I've witnessed at my first wedding here, nearly a decade earlier.
After such a long wait, Kiarra and Chris opted for a low-key celebration. Frequent readers of the blog might wonder why there's no "song list" on this post -- we had no wedding party introductions or toasts. After dinner and the first dance (Chicago's "Just You 'N Me"), the dance floor opened and the music rolled non-stop for the remainder of the reception!

Now, one of the reasons I blog is so that future couples can know a little bit about the venues we have here in Central New York... one notable detail about Camp Brockway is that the County Parks Department requires everyone (including vendors) to clear out by 8pm, which is somewhat earlier than the other County Park wedding venues. So if you're considering the venue, you'll need to plan on ending your reception by 6:00 like Kiarra and Chris did, or maybe 6:30 at the latest, to ensure you have time to clean-up any of your own decorations, and to allow your DJ and catering crews to clear all of their stuff out before the 8:00 cutoff time. If you don't mind that (or you might even prefer it), then this is a beautiful location to host your ceremony and/or reception!
Thanks again to Kiarra and Chris for your business, and to Kiarra's mother Sandy, for finding me! I had a blast helping you celebrate, and I wish you all the best for the years ahead.
