We couldn't have asked for a nicer day for a wonderful lakeside wedding ceremony! Brionna and Michael tied the knot at Emerson Park in Auburn, at the north end of Owasco Lake. And after the ceremony everyone headed into the park's historic pavilion for the reception. Emerson Park's pavilion is much more than your "typical" park pavilion -- check out the photos and more in today's blog post!
This wasn't my first wedding at Emerson Park Pavilion, but it's been awhile - 9 years, in fact! This time, I brought along some new equipment that I've added to my arsenal in 2023, including a wireless speaker and some new dance floor lighting. The wireless speaker made its debut at my first 2023 wedding, but Brionna and Michael's wedding was one of several this year where I knew a wireless speaker would really come in handy, and factored into my decision to invest in the speaker.
That's because Emerson Park is right on the edge of Owasco Lake, and many couples like to get married on the park's sprawling lawn, with the lake in the background. In years past, even my super-long speaker cables weren't quite long enough -- the speakers would get about 3/4 of the way from the building to the ceremony seating, and the sound would come from behind everyone. It worked, but it wasn't ideal.
Always striving for better, the new wireless speaker can go farther from me, so I can get sound in front of the guests, rather than behind them. (Why didn't I do this sooner? Frankly, I wasn't impressed with the wireless solutions that were available 9 years ago, but technology has improved a lot since then, and my wireless speaker has proven to be very solid at every wedding where I've used it so far this year.)
Brionna and Michael's Key Song Choices
Ceremony
- Processional: Music Lab Collective/Canon in D
- Grand Entrance: Benny Martin / Here Comes the Sun (piano)
- Recessional: Borns / Electric Love
Reception
- Wedding party intros: "NFL on Fox" theme song
- Newlyweds' intros: TI / Bring 'Em Out
- First Dance: Chris Stapleton / Joy of My Life (custom-edited)
- Newlyweds' Dance with Parents: Rascal Flatts / My Wish
- Last Dance of the Night: Eve 6 / Here's to the Night
Although the Emerson Park Pavilion looks at first glance to be one long building, it's technically two separate buildings connected by a breezeway. After the ceremony, guests headed into the smaller building for cocktail hour. At the scheduled time, I made an announcement directing guests into the larger building which serves as the ballroom, with its own bar, dinner tables and the dance floor.

Also, a quick plug for officiant Rebecca from Full Circle Ceremony. Nice working with both of you, along with the catering crew at Emerson Park!
And last but not least, thank you again to Brionna and Michael for selecting me as your DJ! I know there are lots of great entertainment options in Central New York, so every booking I get is an honor and a pleasure. You were a great couple to work with, you had a great crowd and I wish you many years of love and happiness together!
