My latest wedding took me to one of my favorite venues — Traditions at the Links in East Syracuse — for the second time this wedding season.  It’s a wonderful venue and I’m always happy to return, especially when the dance floor is consistently packed throughout the entire evening, as it was with Maura, Nicholas and their guests.  Inside this blog post, check out the photos from the reception and see which songs the newlyweds selected for the key moments of their reception. It’s been awhile since my last visit, so it was nice to venture down into Hamilton, a charming village in the heart of Madison County, for Mary and Anthony’s wedding reception.  The venue was the Colgate Inn, where I played another reception in 2013 — in fact, it was my blog post about that wedding which prompted Mary to contact me last summer about my availability. I’m glad she did because, as you’ll see from the photos in this blog post, it turned out to be a great reception! (more…)

Plenty of fun and lots of great photos to share from my latest wedding!  Emily and Adam got married and hosted their reception at the DoubleTree Hotel in East Syracuse, just off Carrier Circle.  The couple welcomed their first child earlier this year, and his presence made for quite the adorable wedding ceremony.  Afterwards, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour followed by dinner and a very active dance floor! A very close call in the weather department almost forced some major last-minute changes at Aubrey and Bill’s wedding at the beautiful Wolf Oak Acres near Oneida this past weekend.  Even though the timing of the rain was “thisclose” to potentially causing some problems for the outdoor ceremony, we lucked out! The rain moved out of the way just in time for everything to stick to the original plans. (more…)

Many believe it’s good luck to have rain on your wedding day. If you want good luck, book me as your DJ and hold the reception at the Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse!  I say that because with Diane and Greg’s wedding, my record for rainy day receptions at Bellevue now stands at 2-for-2. No matter which way you get to Cazenovia, you’ll enjoy a scenic ride. If you’re coming from the west, your drive concludes with a glimpse of the serene lake which shares its name with the village. Nestled in along the lake shore is the Cazenovia Tennis Club, where Jacky and Stephen invited family and friends to celebrate their marriage. The food was great, the bar was hopping and a variety of tunes attracted guests of all ages to the dance floor throughout the night. (more…)

Malika and Sergio live in New York City, but wanted to return to Cornell University in Ithaca to celebrate their wedding. Due to the distance, we never had a chance to meet in-person prior to the big day… but that wasn’t a problem, as we were able to handle all of the planning through a couple of phone calls and a series of emails.  But there was one little twist when I arrived at the Park Atrium inside Cornell’s Statler Hall.  I’ll tell you what happened in this blog post… and of course, I’ll recap the music and share some photos, too! My decision to add a second sound system to my arsenal of equipment last winter helped me push the envelope at Sara and Bill’s wedding ceremony and reception at Traditions at the Links in East Syracuse.  Although I’ve already had some ceremony/reception combos where I used both systems to provide sound in two places, this was the first time I needed to provide sound in three different areas at the same venue.  In this post, I’ll explain how it all worked, and of course, you’ll see plenty of photos of the bride, the groom and their guests having fun on the dance floor! Though I’ve played weddings in Auburn a few times before, this was my first visit to the Hilton Garden Inn.  Jessica and Richard picked an excellent location for their reception!  I was impressed with this relatively-new (just a few years old) venue, especially for the spacious ballroom and the adjacent spaces which also played a role in the evening’s festivities.  I was equally, if not more impressed with the bride and groom’s dance moves… you’ll see in the pictures! The first of my trips to the Ithaca area this wedding season took me just north of the city, to the Lake Watch Inn. Nestled high atop the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake, this historic facility provided a wonderful backdrop for Kelsey and Keyan’s ceremony and reception. Even though most of the day was planned to take place inside “just in case,” the weather proved to be clear, sunny and quite warm, so many guests spent a good chunk of the day on the porch outside.
