What’s old is new again. Finally, that saying rings true for the former Hotel Syracuse. Now the Marriott Syracuse Downtown, it has new life after $70 million in renovations. This past weekend, more than a thousand attended “Forever Hotel Syracuse: A Historic Gala.” The fundraiser for the Onondaga Historical Association provided a first look at the fruits of the extensive renovations. Thanks to some fortunate luck, I had the chance to accompany my wife to the event, camera in hand. (more…)
After a few weddings followed by some time traveling with family, it was exciting to resume the 2016 wedding season with Clare and James at the Cross Lake Inn and Marina in Cato. We couldn’t have asked for better weather for a reception that featured the bride, groom and the entire wedding party arriving by boat! Plenty of fun and lots of great photos to share from my latest wedding! Emily and Adam got married and hosted their reception at the DoubleTree Hotel in East Syracuse, just off Carrier Circle. The couple welcomed their first child earlier this year, and his presence made for quite the adorable wedding ceremony. Afterwards, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour followed by dinner and a very active dance floor! (more…)
Many believe it’s good luck to have rain on your wedding day. If you want good luck, book me as your DJ and hold the reception at the Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse! I say that because with Diane and Greg’s wedding, my record for rainy day receptions at Bellevue now stands at 2-for-2. But rain didn’t let anyone down! My decision to add a second sound system to my arsenal of equipment last winter helped me push the envelope at Sara and Bill’s wedding ceremony and reception at Traditions at the Links in East Syracuse. Although I’ve already had some ceremony/reception combos where I used both systems to provide sound in two places, this was the first time I needed to provide sound in three different areas at the same venue. My goal is to be completely caught-up on my 2014 event blogging by Christmas… still not sure if I’ll make it, but I’m getting really close! Maria and Ben hail from the Utica area, but selected the beautiful Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse as the site for their wedding reception. Although a planned outdoor cocktail hour had to be held indoors due to the weather, most guests probably didn’t even realize there was a change. As expected of any professional venue, the Bellevue had a solid backup plan in place (of which I was also aware) and the entire evening went off without a hitch! (more…)
It was with much pleasure that I had the honor of providing music and emcee duties at the wedding of Becca and Mike. I first met Mike shortly after I met the woman who would become my own wife, back in 2009. He’s a great guy and my wife and I were very happy for him when he met Becca. From the time we were all first introduced, it was apparent that Mike and Becca had something special and we just knew there would eventually be some wedding bells. Fast-forward to September 13, 2014… at the Frog Pond Bed and Breakfast in Skaneateles. (more…)
