I always love adding new places to the list of venues where I’ve performed — so I really enjoyed spinning tunes and acting as emcee for Megan and Steve’s wedding reception at The Farmers’ Museum in Cooperstown. A museum at a wedding? Yeah, it’s true! Sure, not every museum out there is ideal for a wedding, but the Farmers’ Museum offers a wonderful setting — plenty of space indoors and out. It was with much pleasure that I had the honor of providing music and emcee duties at the wedding of Becca and Mike. I first met Mike shortly after I met the woman who would become my own wife, back in 2009. He’s a great guy and my wife and I were very happy for him when he met Becca. From the time we were all first introduced, it was apparent that Mike and Becca had something special and we just knew there would eventually be some wedding bells. Fast-forward to September 13, 2014… at the Frog Pond Bed and Breakfast in Skaneateles. (more…)
For most Central New Yorkers, any mention of “Old Forge” immediately brings up thoughts of the popular water park that’s been up there for many years. But there’s a lot more to Old Forge — like Nick’s Lake, a few miles “off the beaten path,” offering a serene and scenic venue for Trisha and Joshua’s ceremony and reception. (more…)
It’s always exciting to visit new venues, and this one was special because “Our Farm” between Manlius and Cazenovia is not only a popular place for hay rides and pumpkins in the fall — it’s owned and operated by the bride’s parents, who also live on the property. So whenever Natalie tells people she “came back home” from California for her wedding, she means it quite literally! (more…)
Every event that I play has something “memorable” that sets it apart from the rest. Emily and Zeb’s wedding and reception had plenty of different elements that make it stick out in my memory. From the first time I met them, I could tell they were meant for each other… and it was no surprise that their families and friends went above and beyond to help make their wedding day an incredible experience. Now that my 2014 wedding season has come to a close, I finally have a chance to catch-up (again) on my blogging. For the second year in a row, my calendar for July included a wedding at SUNY Oswego’s Fallbrook Recreation Center. Located about a mile and a half away from the main campus, Fallbrook is optimal for summertime weddings, as there’s plenty of open space outside for younger guests to run and play, while the barn offers plenty of room for seating and dancing. One of the many nice things about living in Syracuse is that it’s a substantial city, but you don’t have to go too far to “get away” from the hustle and bustle. Highland Forest is a great example: it’s just a little over 30 minutes from downtown, but despite the commanding, spectacular views, you won’t see even the slightest trace of Syracuse from the Skyline Lodge. It was this beautiful view that served as the backdrop for Amy and Joel’s wedding. (more…)
Well, it happened last year and it happened again this year — I got to a point in the wedding season where things just so busy, my blogging had to take a back seat for awhile. When time gets crunched, preparing for upcoming events takes priority over blogging previous events, but I haven’t forgotten! My first of two wedding receptions in the port city of Oswego this year took me to Alexandria’s Premier Lakeview Weddings, a wonderfully-appointed reception space attached to the Best Western Captain’s Quarters motel. And even after thinking I had all the details covered — after two meetings and many emails — Meghan and Brian, along with their wedding party, managed to surprise everyone in the house with their unique entrances! My latest wedding took me a few miles north of Syracuse, to American Legion Post 787 in Cicero. Leanna and Justin hired me to provide sound for their outdoor ceremony, then music, lighting and emcee duties for the reception, which immediately followed inside the Post’s spacious banquet room. As you’ll see from the photos, the crowd had a great time and the dance floor was filled right through the end of the night! (more…)
