Had a blast doing Natalie and Matthew’s wedding reception at the Genesee Grande Ballroom inside the Collegian Hotel and Suites in Syracuse! Being in my 8th year as a wedding DJ, “first times” don’t happen for me as often as they used to, but Kathy and Duncan’s 25th anniversary presented three — including one nobody was expecting! Chris and Ashley’s wedding was one of the first (if not the first) to take place at Lake Shore Yacht & Country Club following some major renovations. Phew! What a busy June it has been… four weddings in four weekends! July will be a bit calmer, so it’s time to catch up with the blog. The first of those four June weddings brought me back to Wolf Oak Acres, where Kimberly and Giovanni’s pondside ceremony was followed by a reception in the venue’s 8,000 square foot barn. My third wedding of 2018 was my fourth at the historic Lincklaen House in Cazenovia. Interestingly, even though I’ve done four weddings at this venue, each one has been different in some way or another. Into my 8th year as a wedding DJ, it’s hard to believe there are still some major venues where I haven’t done a wedding yet. I’ve DJ’ed a corporate holiday party at Turning Stone Casino Resort before, but it wasn’t until now that I’ve DJ’ed a wedding there. Had a blast helping Andrea and Larry celebrate! Molly and Quinn’s wedding at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown was my last for the 2017 season. Like many TV shows, this “season finalé” pulled out all the stops. From a technical standpoint, it was one of my most complex weddings to date. But I love a good challenge and it all came together very nicely. Imagine this: 19 days before your wedding, a tornado destroys your venue! That’s exactly what happened to Julia and Michael. They had to find a new venue — then notify guests and vendors — with very little time to spare. Talk about testing a marriage, before it even begins! But there’s a happy ending — I’ll explain (and share some photos) in this blog post.
It would be impossible to have asked for a better day for Amy and Michael’s Thousand Islands wedding. DJ services were provided at two locations in Clayton, along the picturesque Saint Lawrence River.
