Throughout my wedding DJ career, I’ve kept a list of “unofficial records” in my head. Earliest and latest wedding dates. (January 14th and December 28th, if you’re wondering.) Longest drive (east of Binghamton). Things like that. Bethany and Brian’s wedding at Highland Forest park’s Skyline Lodge probably sets the record for earliest wedding to date. Growing up in Rome and starting my broadcasting career in Utica, I’ve heard about Beardslee Castle many times, but never had a chance to visit. That changed this year, thanks to Megan and Jimmy booking me as their wedding DJ! They picked a beautiful fall day to get married on the castle’s front lawn, followed by dinner and dancing inside. One venue getting a lot of buzz recently is the Tailwater Lodge in Altmar, which opened just a few years ago. Located along the Salmon River, it’s a favorite spot for anglers, but it’s also a well-appointed venue for weddings. Every wedding is unique in some way, but Rachel and Kevin’s wedding was especially unique. Their ceremony and reception took place atop a hill overlooking her parents’ farm. Nearly a decade into the wedding DJ business… and I’m still discovering new venues across the region! Christina and Philipp’s wedding reception took me down through Cortland and west to Groton, home of The Benn Conger Inn. And what an awesome crowd! While I haven’t actually sat down to count it, Wolf Oak Acres is probably the venue where I’ve DJ’ed the most weddings so far. If not, it’s gotta be pretty close to the top! Had a great time helping Kara and Jordan celebrate their wedding at downtown Syracuse’s SKY Armory this past weekend. The entire event took place right there — starting with the ceremony on the ground floor, then the reception on the third floor.
