Despite 2021 being a somewhat "abbreviated" wedding season, I managed to DJ at one venue twice: Traditions at the Links in East Syracuse! And it was especially nice to be here for Karen and Vince's reception as my wife and I have personally known them for years. Check out the photos, song picks and more in today's blog post!
I often tell couples no two weddings are the same, and this venue also holds that belief. At my previous Traditions at the Links wedding DJ event, the couple held cocktail hour in the Ninth Green Room, which is literally connected to the ballroom. For Karen and Vince's reception, cocktails were hosted in the Burdick Room, which is separate from the ballroom. Shortly before wedding party introductions, guests took a short walk across the lobby into the ballroom to take their seats.
For uplighting, Karen asked if I could match the wine color of the bridesmaids' dresses. She provided a color sample from the dressmaker's website, and I programmed the RGB code from that sample into my lights (with some help from my 8-year-old son).
Karen and Vince's Key Song Choices
- Wedding party intros: Walk the Moon / Timebomb
- First Dance: Celine Dion & Frank Sinatra / All the Way
- Father / Bride Dance: Daughtry / As You Are
- Bouquet Toss: Beyonce / Single Ladies
- Last Dance of the Night: Etta James / At Last
Traditions at the Links Wedding DJ Photo Highlights
Much to my surprise, when I arrived, I was given a container of glow sticks, with instructions to hand them out "when you play the techno songs Vince requested." Glow sticks and other such items are always a big hit at weddings, and this one was no exception.
But the bonus was when Vince tied his glow sticks to some strings and put on an impressive performance of swirling and spinning the sticks in an orchestrated fashion which was clearly very skilled and rehearsed. How he could twirl those things so fast without getting them tangled (or having one break off the string and fly across the room) was impressive!
Unfortunately, my photos didn't do Vince much justice, but you'll see one in the gallery below. And if you like these, there's even more photos of Karen and Vince's Traditions at the Links wedding reception on my Facebook page! Scroll down for a direct link to the album.

And here's the 5-star review Karen posted afterward:
Peter was an excellent vendor from start to finish! Having to postpone a wedding during a pandemic was stressful, but Peter stayed on top of everything and quickly showed to be the vendor we could trust the most with all of our changes and updated requests. Peter was very organized and professional. He had a great attention to detail and did everything he could to give us the experience we were looking for, including seamless edits to shorten some of our songs, always checking in with us to make sure everything was perfect.
The day of our wedding reception, Peter was available for any last minute details. We got so many compliments on the music for our reception - Peter has a talent for reading a crowd, and our dance floor was never empty! We would absolutely recommend Peter to anyone looking for a DJ for their wedding or special event.
Every wedding DJ booking I get is an honor and a privilege, but even moreso when it's for friends I've known for years. Thank you again to Karen and Vince for choosing me to DJ your wedding at Traditions at the Links... it goes without saying, I wish you and your family all the best for many years of love and happiness together!
