Mary and Jake's wedding provided me the chance to DJ one of the first weddings inside Syracuse's newest venue: The Loft at FlynnStoned in Armory Square! Check out the photos, song selections and more in today's blog post.
The Loft at FlynnStoned is the third and topmost level of the FlynnStoned Cannabis Company, which occupies the former Urban Outfitters store location on Walton Street. As of the date of Mary and Jake's wedding, the store hadn't yet received its New York State licensing to begin selling cannabis products. But I was told when it does, the first level will serve as a check-in area, products will be sold on the second level, while the third level will be remain reserved for private events. (Edit: FlynnStoned's cannabis retail business received NYS approval to open in mid-June.)
The top floor features tall ceilings and a large skylight. A large TV high up on one of the walls was used to display a customized graphic for the wedding. An elevator is available so guests don't need to climb the stairs. (In fact, the stairs are roped-off to prevent customers from coming up and crashing a wedding, and vice versa.)
Although the wide open space allows options for arranging chairs and tables, one thing you need to know about The Loft is that it's a cozier, more intimate space. It was a great fit for Mary and Jake's guests, which I'd estimate numbered somewhere around 50. The Loft's Eventective listing suggests a limit of 75 people... anything above that number, you'll probably need to look for a larger venue. And, it should be noted -- for better or worse, depending on your viewpoint -- although the building will soon be legally selling cannabis, it's still not legal to smoke or vape inside the public areas of most buildings in New York State.
