A narrowly-averted potential disaster, an awesome crowd and a new addition to my career venue list! Those — plus another legendary Lake Ontario sunset — are among the highlights from Abby and Corey’s wedding and reception at Rainbow Shores in Pulaski. Details inside this blog post!
Rainbow Shores served as a wonderful setting for Abby and Corey’s wedding! Although the restaurant itself would have been too small for this wedding, they have a huge lawn outside which provided more than enough room for a huge party tent, a separate ceremony location closer to the lake, and plenty of additional room for guests to wander and mingle during cocktail hour. Lake Ontario provided a great backdrop for the ceremony, as you’ll see in the first few photos.

Before I get into more details about the event, I have to give Mrs. Naughton some huge, huge, huge props for bailing me out of a potential disaster, which I’m sharing for the first time in this blog post.
It’s about an hour from my house to the venue. I was already off I-81 and nearly to the venue when I realized I had my two primary speakers with me, but had left my two wireless speakers behind at home, plugged-in and recharging. Agggghh!!
Those wireless speakers were key to covering the ceremony. Without them, I could have found another way to make things work, but it would have required a lot of extra work in a very short amount of time. If the venue was much farther up north, I wouldn’t have even asked. So I am very, very grateful for my wife saving the day by bringing those extra speakers to me.
Ceremony
Reception
After a great ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner, it was time to open the floor for dancing… and what a great crowd! Always exciting to see newlyweds hoisted into the air, and the crowd was having such a great time, Abby and Corey extended their dance floor time by a full hour!
My only regret was that I thought I also forgot the memory card for my DLSR camera, so I resorted to taking photos from my phone. Turns out I had the memory card all along, just stored somewhere other than its usual place — but I didn’t realize until afterward. Luckily, I’m the DJ, not the photographer… and I’m glad my newish phone takes much better photos than my previous phone!

For much, much better photos, be sure to check out the work of Allison Lee Photography… as of this writing it looks like she hasn’t posted anything from Corey and Abby’s wedding yet but when she does, I’m sure they’ll be wonderful!
