The 2015 wedding season is now officially underway… and I don’t think I could have asked for a better way to get started! Loreley and Ben hosted their wedding ceremony and reception at the beautiful, historic Oneida Community Mansion House in Oneida. It was not just the first wedding of the 2015 season, but the first where I used two separate sound systems together — thanks to the addition of a brand new sound system over the winter. (more…)
For my final wedding of the 2014 season, it was nice to return to a familiar venue: Emerson Park in Auburn! That’s where Hollie and Brendan chose to celebrate their wedding day with several dozen of their closest relatives and friends. And as you’ll see in this blog post, everyone had fun dancing the night away, right up to the very last song of the night. (more…)
My goal is to be completely caught-up on my 2014 event blogging by Christmas… still not sure if I’ll make it, but I’m getting really close! Maria and Ben hail from the Utica area, but selected the beautiful Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse as the site for their wedding reception. Although a planned outdoor cocktail hour had to be held indoors due to the weather, most guests probably didn’t even realize there was a change. As expected of any professional venue, the Bellevue had a solid backup plan in place (of which I was also aware) and the entire evening went off without a hitch! (more…)
We’re just a few days away from Christmas, so it’s only appropriate that I am finally blogging about Frances and Adam’s wedding from October. Why is that appropriate? Well, let’s just say it’s the first time I’ve ever done an October wedding — or a wedding, any month for that matter — where a famous, jolly man in a red suit made an appearance to surprise all the guests! I always love adding new places to the list of venues where I’ve performed — so I really enjoyed spinning tunes and acting as emcee for Megan and Steve’s wedding reception at The Farmers’ Museum in Cooperstown. A museum at a wedding? Yeah, it’s true! Sure, not every museum out there is ideal for a wedding, but the Farmers’ Museum offers a wonderful setting — plenty of space indoors and out. It was with much pleasure that I had the honor of providing music and emcee duties at the wedding of Becca and Mike. I first met Mike shortly after I met the woman who would become my own wife, back in 2009. He’s a great guy and my wife and I were very happy for him when he met Becca. From the time we were all first introduced, it was apparent that Mike and Becca had something special and we just knew there would eventually be some wedding bells. Fast-forward to September 13, 2014… at the Frog Pond Bed and Breakfast in Skaneateles. (more…)
For most Central New Yorkers, any mention of “Old Forge” immediately brings up thoughts of the popular water park that’s been up there for many years. But there’s a lot more to Old Forge — like Nick’s Lake, a few miles “off the beaten path,” offering a serene and scenic venue for Trisha and Joshua’s ceremony and reception. (more…)
It’s always exciting to visit new venues, and this one was special because “Our Farm” between Manlius and Cazenovia is not only a popular place for hay rides and pumpkins in the fall — it’s owned and operated by the bride’s parents, who also live on the property. So whenever Natalie tells people she “came back home” from California for her wedding, she means it quite literally! (more…)
Every event that I play has something “memorable” that sets it apart from the rest. Emily and Zeb’s wedding and reception had plenty of different elements that make it stick out in my memory. From the first time I met them, I could tell they were meant for each other… and it was no surprise that their families and friends went above and beyond to help make their wedding day an incredible experience. Now that my 2014 wedding season has come to a close, I finally have a chance to catch-up (again) on my blogging. For the second year in a row, my calendar for July included a wedding at SUNY Oswego’s Fallbrook Recreation Center. Located about a mile and a half away from the main campus, Fallbrook is optimal for summertime weddings, as there’s plenty of open space outside for younger guests to run and play, while the barn offers plenty of room for seating and dancing.
