Susan and Michael had a great wedding reception! And they also brought a unique idea to honor some of their guests during dinner... I'll share the details along with their key song picks, photos and more in today's blog post.
One of my favorite things about the Tailwater Lodge is the spacious ballroom. The uplights and dance floor lights always look all the more impressive in a room with high ceilings, and I feel like the combination really helps set the mood for everyone to get dancing.

So, what was the unique idea Susan and Michael had? Knowing they would have a lot of married couples in attendance, they asked those couples what song they used for their own first dances. Then, they had me play those songs during dinner -- but just before dinner, I explained what would be happening, and invited couples to get up and dance when they heard their own song.
This was a wonderful tribute to the marriages of the guests! And because they were obviously all slower love songs, dinner hour was the perfect time to play them. While a few slow dances are usually welcomed during the "open dance floor" time later in the evening, too many slow songs later in the evening can put a damper on things. Playing these all during dinner was a great way to make the idea happen!
