The 2025 wedding season — my 15th — is underway! This year, we’re kicking things off at the historic Marriott Syracuse Downtown. Charlotte and Shane’s cocktail hour took place in a cordoned-off portion of the hotel’s massive lobby, followed by a reception in the beautiful Persian Terrace ballroom. Photos, song choices and more in today’s post!
Fun fact: this is my 7th wedding at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown, specifically my 3rd in the Persian Terrace (the hotel has two other ballrooms), but it’s the first time since the hotel reopened in 2016 that I’ve also provided sound in the lobby for cocktail hour.
At first, I was curious as to whether I could shoot a good signal from the Persian Terrace, across the lobby, to my wireless speakers on the lobby floor. It worked, but there were occasional glitches in the audio. I kind of expected that, given the signal was going through some windows and walls. To play it safe, I set up my compact secondary system in a corner of the lobby area. Worked perfectly.
This was also my first time using 4 speakers in the Persian Terrace ballroom — as always, I had 2 speakers next to me on the stage adjacent to the dance floor. And then 2 more speakers in the far corners of the seating area, to help make sure guests could clearly hear every word of the speeches.

All in all, a great start for my 2025 wedding season! A great time had by all… my thanks to Charlotte and Shane for choosing me for your wedding entertainment! I know there’s a lot of great choices out there, so every wedding I’m hired to DJ is always an honor and a privilege. All my best to you both for many years of love and happiness together!
