Amanda and Eric selected a great venue in the Vernon Downs Casino Hotel for their wedding ceremony and reception. Keep reading for details about the venue’s spaces, along with photos and the newlyweds’ key song choices!
The hotel’s third-floor hotel deck served as the location for the ceremony and cocktail hour. The deck offers a great view of the seemingly endless tree-covered hills in the distance. To cover these portions of the event, I set-up my compact secondary system under my canopy tent behind the last row of seats in the back, with wireless speakers located at the front to make sure guests could hear the ceremony. As guests moved closer to the bar for cocktail hour, so did the speakers.
At the appointed time, announcements directed guests down to the hotel’s ballroom, which featured my primary system with dance floor lighting and uplighting. If you’re planning to follow a similar format, just remember to give yourself ample time for guests to wait for the elevators (or take the stairs) from the third floor to the first. Knowing this would take some time, I started making announcements 20 minutes before we were scheduled to introduce the wedding party.

Some fun trivia: this is actually my third DJ event at Vernon Downs, but only the first to appear on my blog!
Why is that? My first wedding here was in 2013, when I was still very new to the business… and so focused on my primary duties, I forgot to take any photos! My next event was just a few years ago, a holiday party for an undisclosed local employer.
Back to the present, Amanda and Eric’s reception was a great time, featuring a “live painter” who was capturing scenes from the ceremony and the reception on canvass as things unfolded. White and pink uplighting accented the entire ballroom.
Amanda and Eric worked with a choreographer on their first dance and the results were impressive! Impressive moves wowed the crowd and earned some well-deserved applause.

Later as the dance floor opened, the couple provided some “goodies” for the dance floor… in the photos, you’ll notice some guests wearing personalized sunglasses, waving light-up foam sticks, and even holding up a few giant cutout photos of Amanda and Eric’s cats!

And here’s the 5-star review Amanda wrote after the wedding:
Peter was great to work with!!! He did everything me and my husband requested and was so easy to work with. He kept the party going all night long!
Thanks again to Amanda and Eric for choosing me as your wedding DJ! All my best to you both!
