Sarah and Tristan at Vanderkamp, Bernhards Bay, 8/16/25

Wow, the end of August and all of September turned out to be way busier than it orignally looked on the calendar! Blogging had to take a back seat for awhile but I am eager to get caught-up, starting with Sarah and Tristan’s at Vanderkamp in Bernhards Bay!

Not counting weddings at private residences over the years, Vanderkamp is the 93rd unique venue of my wedding DJ career… always happy to add a new pin to the venue map, especially as it inches closer and closer to a hundred! If you’ve never heard of it before, Vanderkamp is a secluded venue in Bernhards Bay, just a little drive from the north shore of Oneida Lake, near the border between Oswego and Oneida Counties.

The wedding party rented the lodge next to Vanderkamp Lake, which served as the backdrop for the ceremony. The Kempwick Commons building housed the reception. Cocktail hour took place on the lawn between the two sites. It was a busy first couple of hours, so much so that I didn’t have time to take any photos of the ceremony setup, so everything is from the reception.

As for the technical aspect of things: for this event, I used both of my sound systems — one behind the lodge where the ceremony took place, with my own tent to provide shade from the sun.

The other system was set up in Kempwick for the reception, and from there, I was able to shoot sound to my wireless speakers out on the lawn for cocktail hour, in addition to the wired speakers inside on the dance floor.

Vanderkamp Wedding DJ Photo Highlights

After the wedding party entered through doors at the opposite end of the room, they sat at the head table, while the newlyweds had their first dance down there. The parent dances were held after dinner, in the regular dance floor area. Once the parent dances were done, we had no other special events to handle, so it was non-stop dancing until the end of the night!

A bit late to the TikTok party, I’ve recently opened an account and I’ve been trying to post video at each wedding — here’s the clip I posted from Sarah and Tristan’s wedding, and feel free to follow me!

And be sure to check out Madison Vaughn Photography’s Insta for more — as of this writing, she hasn’t posted anything from this wedding yet, but when she does, I’m sure her photos will be way better than mine!

Here’s the 5-star review Sarah and Tristan provided:

Peter is fantastic! He was highly professional, prepared to pivot seamlessly, and kept the vibes flowing all night! Our ceremony was soft and intimate with meaningful song choices and an exchange of personal vows — Peter handled everything according to our requests with great attention to detail. The rest of our evening was tailored to us with our favorite songs and wedding party toasts that could be heard by all of our guests with Peter’s great sound system. The dance floor was electric all night! We loved having Peter help make our special day perfect!

Thank you so much, Sarah and Tristan, for the awesome review! I appreciate you taking the time, and I also appreciate you choosing me for your wedding day entertainment. I wish you all the best for many years of love and happiness together!
